Kentucky Derby 2014

2012 Kentucky Derby Winner I'll Have Another

I'll Have Another ridden by relatively unknown jockey from Hastings Park in Vancouver, British Columbia won the first jewel of the 2012 Triple Crown. Beating out Bodemeister in the 2012 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, he finished with a race time of 2:01.83.

Mario Guitierrez was definitely considered to be the least known jockey racing in the 2012 Kentucky Derby but if you ask any horse racing fan who spends time at Hastings Racetrack, they will tell you it is no surprise. For the past 5 years in Vancouver, Mario has absolutely dominated the local circuit.

From the 19th post position, I'll Have Another beat Bodemeister, who led for the majority of the race by passing him on the outside on the final stretch.

Union Rags was the favorite at 9-2 while Bodemeister who was the favorite during the morning line odds dropped from 4-1 to 5-1 by the time the race started.
